Announcements as of August 12, 2012...

There are lots of things coming up in the near future at Caledonia Open Door!

August 5 was officially our 4th year anniversary; can you believe everything we’ve accomplished in that short span of time?  And it is all because we keep our focus where it supposed to be – on Jesus!  Because of the heat, we will hold our Homecoming on Sunday, September 30.  If you have ideas for the Homecoming Service, please post them here, mention them to one of our pastors, or send an email to calodwc@gmail.com.  Also, if you have pictures that you would like to go in our annual slideshow, please get those to Lisa Ivey; they'll be scanned and returned to you if you submit an actual photo, but you can also email them or save them on a disk or flash drive.

Our computer in the sanctuary had a crash recently and we had to replace it.  The new one is up and running now, but if you had music that was saved on the old computer, please bring your CD’s back to Geoff to reload them.  The files on the old computer were all lost, so we need to rebuild our music library on the new one.

The next Men’s Prayer Breakfast will be 7:30 am on Saturday, September 8 at Ryan’s.  There are no age or membership requirements for our Men’s Group get-togethers.  The September meeting will be a little different than usual; the men have invited the ladies of the church to join them at Ryan’s and share in their time of devotion, prayer, and fellowship.  From all the ladies, we appreciate the invitation!

For all the ladies out there, Lysa TerKeurst will be speaking at Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus on Thursday, October 18.  She will be speaking from her newest book, "Unglued", and it is sure to be an evening of fun and fellowship!  Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and can be purchased at Fairview Baptist Church, Monograms Plus, and New Life Christian Bookstore in Columbus.  Doors open at 6:00 pm; Praise & Worship begins at 6:30 pm; and Lysa speaks at 7:00 pm.

For all you Gaither Family fans, there will be a Gaither Homecoming concert in Tupelo at BancorpSouth Arena on Friday, November 9 at 7:00 pm.  Ticket pricing and purchasing info can be found at this link: http://bcsarena.com/shared/event_detail.aspx?EventID=688060&WebLink=51A.52EF7656&xml_path=undefined

Caledonia Day is also coming up before we know it.  It will be on Saturday, October 20.  CODWC has volunteered to work the Welcome / Information Booth, so anybody who wants to help in that area is more than welcome to join in. Our Youth Praise Band, "By The Blood", will be performing as well.

Our ministry at Windsor is growing all the time!  If you would like to be a part of this ministry, we visit on the 3rd Saturday of each month.  It is a great time of laughing, singing, sharing, and playing Bingo with some of the residents there.  They always look forward to these visits; some of these ladies and gentlemen have no one else who visits them or takes up special time with them, and the ministry team has a great time.  Also, we are in need of more Bingo prizes for the male residents, so if you would like to donate to this ministry, you can contact the blog, our email, or Rice Glover for more information.

On Sunday night, August 12, we held a short business meeting after evening services.  The Church Board brought three items before the congregation and all three were approved.  They are:
  1. We will begin working towards having enough money to build a new Fellowship Hall; this will be a 2-story metal building that can house the Fellowship Hall downstairs and classrooms upstairs.  Our existing Fellowship Hall would also be turned into classrooms.
  2. We will keep a cap of $15,000 in the Church general fund, and anything above this can be earmarked for a Building Fund.
  3. A 5-member committee (our three Board members and two ladies) will be charged with making all final decisions associated with the construction of this new building.  They may occasionally need to come before the congregation for issues that come up and ask for votes.
This is a major milestone for our church; in just 4 short years, we have met every goal that has been set, and as long as we keep our focus that this new construction is to help us do what God needs us to do, we will meet this goal as well!

Birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events coming up for the rest of this month:
