Welcome to our brand new church blog!

This blog was created to provide a single spot for information about all the happenings at COWDC.  We still have our Facebook page (click on the photo of our church in the right sidebar to get to it), and it's still a great place to put your own messages, events, and prayer requests.

First, a little church history, if you're not familiar with us.  We started as a small group of believers meeting for Bible Study in a living room.  When the group outgrew that, we moved to the Caledonia Community Center.  We only met there a couple of times, and God provided a permanent home for us - an empty church building just outside town.

That was in August 2008; the denomination that owned the building allowed us to meet there rent-free for the rest of the year.  The building was furnished with pews, a full kitchen in the Fellowship Hall, and a sound system; all we had to do was walk in, sit down, and start worshiping!

In early 2009, we made the decision to purchase the building and property, and within a year, we had paid off the entire balance.  We were able to do this, and a lot more over the next years, only because we kept our focus on God's direction and what He wanted us to be. 


We are a non-denominational church, and we believe in worshiping as God leads us.  We have seen prayers answered in powerful ways, both in our own congregation and for others who have asked us for prayers.

A few things going on this week...

There will be NO Wednesday night service this week (July 18).  Our pastors and our youth praise band will be in Millport Alabama at Timberlake Ministries to lead the camp service that night at 7:00. Our regular Wednesday Bible Study will resume on July 25 at 7:00 pm.


This Saturday morning (July 21) will be our monthly visit to Windsor Place to play Bingo and spend some quality time with residents there.  The Bingo group is growing, and they look forward to our visits each month!  If you'd like to be a part of this ministry, you can meet the Open Door team at Windsor Place in East Columbus around 9:45 - 10:00 am this Saturday.

This is the third week of our CARE Ministry.  Our four teams (C, A, R, and E) go out one evening a month ("C" picks a day in the first week, "A" goes the second week, etc.) to make contact with our community and spread the Good News.  Each team can decide what they want to do on their evening out; go door-to-door, visit with people in the hospital or those who are home-bound, check in with those we haven't seen in a while, and so on.
